How to make Hyderabadi -style Idli at home in a pan
Whenever it comes to healthy breakfast, South Indian food usually is our first choice.
Many of us like to have Idli and Dosa in the morning for breakfast. Here's an Idli recipe, which is super simple and easy-to - make and is quite popular in Hyderabad.

The hyderabadi- style Idli is known to be spicy, crispy and delicious. For making this Idli, you do need any kind of Idli maker as this Idli can be made on the tawa itself. This Idli is mostly enjoyed with a spicy Idli podi masala. Here's the detailed recipe of the same....
Ingredients required for Idli Batter
1Cup rice flour
1cup urad dal flour
½cup poha
Salt to taste
1 tsp curd
½ cup water
1 tsp fruit salt
2 tbsp onion (chopped)
2 tbsp curry leaves
5-6 tomatoes (chopped)
Ingredients required for Idli podi masala
1 tbsp coconut oil
½ cup chana dal
½ cup urad dal
¼ cup white sesame seeds
20 whole red chilies
½ tbsp asafoetida
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt

Method
1. To make Idli hyderabadi style, first of all, put poha in a jar and make a fine powder of it. Now, mix rice and urad dal flour in it. And 1 tsp salt, curd a water and whisk well to make its batter. Leave it like this for a few minutes. Allow it to rest for a few minutes.
2. Meanwhile, prepare the podi masala. Heat one spoon of oil in a pan and grin chana dal and urad dal in it. When it starts to turn golden, and sesame seeds and whole red chilies to it. After turning off the gas, add asafoetida to it.
3. To Make instant Idli better , add fruit salt to the better. Now heat a flat pan or tawa on the stove with 2-3 tbsps oil. Fry chopped onions, curry leaves and green chillies on it till they turn golden. When it turns golden, and chopped tomatoes to it. Add two spoons of podi masala to it. Now, divide this spice into four parts.
4. Pour a scoop of Idli better on top of each block of masala. Now, close it by covering the lid and wait till it puffs up. You have to cook it for four to five minutes. Similarly, turn it over and cook it from the other side as well. You can make it as crispy as you like. Garnish is with coriander and serve it hote with chutney.
